I’ve had my Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player for 2 weeks now. I’ve never owned a Blu-Ray player before. It looks nice in my cabinet, it’s quieter than my roommates’ Blu-Ray player, and of course it’s got amazing picture and sound. The USB port and the Ethernet port work, but I haven’t had to download any firmware or code updates yet.

The only real operational noise you hear is some track-seeking, which you can hear from the couch if it’s quiet. Not a big deal to me. I have noticed the occasional flicker in the middle of the screen in some parts of mostly-black screens (like credits). It always happens in the same frames, though, so it might be a problem with the discs rather than the player.

One big advantage the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player has over my roommates’ is that the discs load much faster. It also helps that there’s a progress bar during the load times, which makes it seem even less annoying. At least you know something is happening.

Of course, the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player isn’t perfect. It’s not top-of-the-line, so what do you expect? For one thing, the only outputs on the back are the RCA outputs – there’s no coaxial, no headphone, none of the older types of cabling – so you’ve gotta get a newer TV (not like you wouldn’t be totally wasting the HD aspect of Blu-Ray by playing it on an older TV anyway). More importantly, there are no Dolby 5.1 audio outputs.

One of the upshots of this is that you can’t bypass your receivers pre-amp to play the newer audio formats and let the blu-ray player decode them. The old receiver I used only decoded Dolby 5.1 (no DTS). This player lets you send a pulse-modulated stream to your receiver from a Dolby 5.1 signal, but my receiver only saw it as 2-channel (it doesn’t ’speak’ pulse-code modulation). At least the player can downgrade the sample rates so that older receivers will still get sound, even if it’s not as pristine as it could be with a modern receiver.

I ended up going out and paying for a new receiver in order to take advantage of the sound quality that the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player offers. Maybe I’m a bit obsessive, but it just didn’t feel right to have an awesome new picture and not have the perfect sound to go with it.

So my conclusion is that for those people with newer receivers and newer televisions – this blu-ray player is top-notch. If you have an older receiver, ironically, the best savings would be to pay a little more for a player with Dolby 5.1 analog outputs and continue to use your existing receiver.

LCD TV’s provide its viewers the best in high resolution TV. They also produce crystal clear pictures. Plus they are designed in a very sleek, hip and modern way. However, it would be quite a turn off if it were to be found placed on a poorly constructed stand.

A stand that is built in a very huge dimension may not necessarily mean that it can perform much better in supporting your LCD TV’s weight. Do not be directly fooled by sizes. Find out first what material the TV stand is made of. 

You must also consider the floor space of your house. If it so happens that you have a very spacious living room, then a very practical stand for you to buy is swivel TV sand. A swivel TV stand allows your LCD TV to twisted and turned in all directions. This turning and twisting movement are all based on a vertical axis. That is why your LCD TV can then be viewed at all angles of your living room. Just keep in mind to have enough room space from the wall in order for you to have enough leg room for twisting and turning when rotating your TV. There are also stands that are called portable stands. These portable have built in wheels and casters. These built in wheels and casters will allow your LCD TV to be transported from one area of your house to another in a jiffy.

They will be most ideal if you have a spacious house and you plan on moving often your LCD TV from one area to another. 

One thing also to consider when buying an LCD TV stand is the design. Especially now that TV stand are made up of all types of materials. Design is also important. The TV stand must also complement the layout and furnishing of your house. If you have a décor with traditional settings, then a wooden stand would most likely complement your design. However, if you are into contemporary designs, TV stands made of metal and fiberglass would mostly be the most complimentary. 

LCD TV stand also vary in different ways. Even in prices. It can go from a few hundreds up to a few thousands. If you are creative, try contacting your local carpenter and have a personally built custom made LCD TV stand built according to your desire.

According to the stats on this page, this 1080p LCD has a resolution of 1366 x 768. Since, by definition, 1080p would require a vertical resolution of 1080 lines, this is obviously NOT a 1080p LCD.
